Starlink referral code: what it is, and the one way it works
A short RC- code that rides inside a starlink.com link. It gets a brand-new US customer one free month of service. You don’t type it anywhere: you open the link.

The short answer
There’s no box to type a Starlink referral code into.
The code only works inside a referral link from an existing customer, opened before you order on starlink.com. You’ll know it worked when the order page says “Referral Code Applied”Third-party report. What you get: one free month of service on the eligible plan you choose. You pay the first month; the credit comes off your second bill.
At a glance
What you get
One month of service free, credited to bill 2. List prices for the plans it works on run $55 to $175 a month, so that’s what the month is worth.
Who it’s for
People who have never had Starlink, with a US service address, ordering the kit and plan directly on starlink.com.
What it isn’t
Not a discount on the kit, not a promo code, and not something you can add after ordering.
How you’ll know
“Referral Code Applied” on the order page before you pay; later, an email and a bill preview showing month 2 free.
How a code becomes a free month
Starlink’s own steps are short: open the referral link you were sent, sign up for Residential or Roam on starlink.com, then activate and stay subscribed at least 2 months. Here’s the same path with the one check you can do yourself.
The only step you can check yourself before paying is step 3. If the order page doesn’t say the code is applied, stop and reopen the link.
What a referral code looks like
A referral code starts with "RC-" followed by groups of digits, and sits at the end of the link after "?referral="Third-party report. Starlink’s terms treat the code and the link as one thing. Starlink's terms define the referral as a "Unique Referral Link": a personalized link or code made for one existing customer.

That’s why people search “where do I enter my Starlink referral code” and find nothing: Starlink's own steps never ask you to type a code. Every step starts with opening the link, so the code reaches checkout inside the web addressOur reading. Code vs link, explained.
What have you got? Pick one
Good: that’s the form that works
Open it in the browser you’ll order in, keep that tab, and look for “Referral Code Applied” on the order page before paying. Check the link first if a stranger sent it.
Ask for the link that goes with it
There’s no box for a bare code at checkout. The simplest fix is to ask the person for the full link from their Starlink account (Account → Referrals). Starlink doesn’t say whether a link you put together yourself counts the same.
It won’t do anything
Starlink’s US checkout has no promo-code box, and the discounts it does offer appear on their own by address. What the real discounts are.
Ask for the full link instead
You can’t see where a short link goes or whether a code survives the redirect. Paste it into the checker to see why.
Ask someone you know who has Starlink
Customers find their link under Account → Referrals. Only use one from someone you trust, and only if you’ve never had Starlink and your service address is in the US.
Before you use any code: four checks
You’ve never had Starlink. You are not, and have never been, a Starlink subscriber, under any account.
Your service address is in the US, and so is the one belonging to the person whose code you use.
You’ll order on starlink.com.The kit and plan must be bought directly on starlink.com; stores, unauthorized resellers and private transfers don't count.
You plan to keep it. The referral only counts once you stay subscribed, in good standing, for two full monthly billing cycles.
It works on these plans: Residential Lite, Residential, Residential 100 Mbps, Residential 200 Mbps, Residential Max, Roam 100GB, Roam 300GB and Roam Unlimited.
What happens after you order
Month 1: you pay as normal, along with the kit or rental activation and any demand surcharge for your address.
Once it’s confirmed:Starlink emails you once the free month is confirmed, and the bill preview in your account shows month two as free.
Bill 2: the credit covers that month.
The person whose code you used gets the customer who shared the code gets a reward from Starlink ($100 per successful US referral, in Starlink's own example), as account credit or cash. That doesn’t cost you anything or change your free month.
Is there a better code somewhere?
No. None of Starlink's help-center text on discounts asks you to type a promo code; discounts either appear on their own at checkout for your address or come from a referral linkOur reading. The referral free month is the only discount you can choose yourself. The full promo-code answer.
Three myths we see most

Is a referral code the same as a promo code?
No. A referral code gets a new customer a free month of service. A promo code would be typed in for a discount, and Starlink’s US checkout has no box for one. More on promo codes.
Does the person who shared the code get something?
Yes, Starlink gives them a reward if your order qualifies. It costs you nothing, and your free month is the same either way.
Can I use a code if I had Starlink before?
No. It’s only for people who have never been Starlink subscribers.
